To Add Cable Laying Method Overwrites

The Cable Laying Methods tab allows you to define overwrites to the default cable laying method to be used for specific situations.
  1. Open the Options dialog from one of the following locations:
    • Manage > Options
    • File > Options (Backstage page)
  2. Click Cable Routing, then the Cable Laying Methods tab.
  3. Click the Add icon to add a new overwrite record.
  4. Enter a Name for the overwrite.
  5. Click the arrow icon next to the Name property to expand the overwrite properties.
  6. Click in the Method value field and select a method from the drop down list.
  7. Optional: If you wanted to add a new method, click the Browse button and use the Configuration dialog to add a method.
  8. Click in the Raceway System value field, then click the Browse icon to display the Raceway Property Manager.
  9. Define the System, Catalog and Variant (Size) in this dialog and click OK to apply the values.
  10. Click in the Voltage Level value field and select a Voltage from the drop down list.
  11. The descriptions for the parameter fields are defined in the SPEC_CableFill.xml file and vary from method to method. This file is located in the following directory:

    ...\Configuration\WorkSpaces\BRCM Imperial Example\Standards\BRCM\std_dataset\metadata

    The NEC Rules methods, such as the NEC Rules Single Cable method expanded in the dialog above, use lookup tables for the routing rules which are defined in the following xml files:

    ...\Program Files\Bentley\Bentley Raceway and Cable Management CONNECT Edition\BRCM\Mdlapps\CableFillCalculators\CableFillCalculators.xml

    ...\Program Files\Bentley\Bentley Raceway and Cable Management CONNECT Edition\BRCM\Mdlapps\CableFillCalculators\NECFillFactorsTable.xml

    Refer to these files for descriptions for the cable laying parameters.

  12. When you are finished defining the properties for the cable laying method, click Apply to save the changes.
  13. Continue to define new attributes, or, if finished in the Options dialog, click OK to close.
